What is HSCA?

The Health Science Collegiate Academy (HSCA) is an accelerated academic program partnership with Lake County Schools, Lake Sumter State College, South Lake Hospital and the University of Central Florida.  This program provides Lake County students career exploration opportunities within the STEM and health science fields.   

Lake Sumter State College is now accepting applications to the Health Sciences Collegiate Academy (HSCA)!!

HSCA provides students an opportunity to join a cohort of students and take a predetermined sequence of courses that will lead to an associate’s degree.

To apply ALL students must meet the following criteria:

·         8th Grade in good academic standing

·         Minimum 3.0 GPA

·         Algebra 1 (Preferred)

  • Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 6:00PM at Lake Sumter State College
  • Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 6:00PM -Virtual
  • Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 6:00PM at Lake Sumter State College
  • Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 6:00PM -Virtual 

**All students that have an unweighted 3.0 GPA or higher will receive a mailer to their home address with this information. 

To be considered for the program all students must:

·        Meet the aforementioned criteria

·        Complete and submit the dual-enrollment application and select the HSCA Prep (9th Grade) bullet in the application by Close of Business Friday, February 23, 2024.

·        Sit for a 15-minute  group interview (we would need your assistance in setting up a day and time for this interview)
